Carrie Ingalls
Carrie Ingalls was, arguably, Keystone's most famous resident. She was the younger sister in Laura Ingalls Wilder's book "Little House on The Prairie" and she lived in Keystone for many years. She was a writer for the local newspaper and married Dave Swanzey with whom she lived in a small cabin along Grizzly Creek downstream from where the Roosevelt Inn now stands. In her later years Carrie used to sit on the porch of the cabin and watch tourists drive up the dusty gravel road to Mt. Rushmore. If you are interested in more information about these two -- and indeed the whole town of Keystone -- be sure to visit the Keystone Historical Society Museum in Old Keystone.
