Cell Phones
If you travel across South Dakota on Interstate
90, or
most other major highways for that matter, you should always be within
the in range of most national cellular services such as Cellular One or
Verizon. Within the Black Hills, however, you may find yourself in a
"black
hole" and cellular communications may not be possible. This usually
happens
in areas surrounded by the higher mountains. Generally speaking, analog
service providers have better service in the Black Hills than the newer
digital services. In Keystone, cellular service signals tend to be weak
but usable.
