Black Hills Travel Guide

Those people who return to the Black Hills year after year already know there's lots to see and do here. First-time visitors are often surprised by the diversity of this region and by the number of things a person or family can see and do. Often they arrive with the idea that the only thing to see in the Black Hills is Mt. Rushmore. Although Mt. Rushmore is the most famous site in the Black Hills, and can't be miRoosevelt Inn's Black Hills Travel Guidessed, the actual time most people spend visiting Mt. Rushmore is only a few hours.
The emphasis here in summer is on family vacations. People see the Black Hills as a wonderful place to bring children -- often reliving their own childhood memories.
But this is also a place that attracts people with many different interests, whether those interests be Western history, bird watching, adventure sports or motorcycles. These hills aren't just for the kids.
To give you a better idea of this diversity we've collected the following pages in what we call the Black Hills Travel Guide. Many pages have links to other Black Hills web sites, so you might want to place a bookmark to this page so you can easily return.
The information here is updated as needed and as new information becomes available. We are currently working on updates for the 2007 season which will include some changes in hours and fees. For commercial attractions, we either visit the attraction ourselves or rely on information submitted by the attraction operators. For public facilities, we use various published sources where possible, or otherwise attempt to contact key individuals who provide information. We also rely on feedback from visitors who often take the time to inform us of their experiences regarding various sites and attractions.
Unlike other sites we provide this information free. And .... when we say free, we mean free. We don't charge you to use this informatioin and we don't charge the attractions for listings. This allows us to be independent and impartial. Thus the opinions, when expressed, are our own -- based on our own experience. If we visit a commercial attraction we always pay our own way and never tell the operator that we are gathering information for this web site. For more information about our listings, click HERE.
Now it's your turn: Click on any of the underlined links to get started.
