This is the oldest history museum in the Black Hills.
Located in Deadwood, within easy walking distance to Deadwood's
Historic Main Street, the museum features many displays and photographs
interpreting Deadwood and Black Hills History. Highlights include the
first steam locomotive in the black hills, (hauled overland in pieces
by wagon) and artifacts relating to Wild Bill Hickok and other colorful
Western figures. The museum also has a collection of old-west guns and many of the minerals found in the Black Hills. The Adams House is a restored Queen Anne style Victorian mansion. Tours are conducted daily in what was once one of Deadwood's finest homes. We recommend that you visit the museum first and then get driving instructions to the house.
