Time Needed: Tour takes about an hour, the time you spend in the museum depends on your interest in the topic.
Best Time To Go: Anytime. Open all year. Summer hours, 9 a.m to 5 p.m. daily.
Directions: Take US16A north out of Keystone and US16 west to US385. Take US385 north to junction with US85. Take US85 south, about 3 miles. Museum is located in downtown Lead at 325 W. Main.
Cost: Adults $5.50, Seniors, $5. Students $4.5. Under 6, free. (2006 rates)

Description:
Museum of Mining is Open All Year. Open All Year
   This is the only place in the Hills where you can get an idea of what a modern underground gold mine is like. (The Homestake mine is now closed.) Exhibits feature life-sized models of various gold-mining operations.
    The museum was established by former miners at the Homestake Gold Mine and includes a great deal of detailed information about gold mining as well as a nice collection of artifacts and memorbilia..
