The Journey Museum in Rapid City tries to not be an ordinary museum.
The displays which depict the Black Hills history all the way from its
geological birth to the present day is full of interactive displays and
moving exhibits.
The museum brings together five major prehistoric and historic
collections which, taken-together, tell the complete 2.5 billion year story of the Western
Great Plains. The collections include:
- The Museum of Geology: Minerals and fossils
- The Archaeological Research Center: Prehistoric exhibits
- The Sioux Indian Museum: Native American history and culture
- The Minnilusa Pioneer Museum: Pioneer artifacts
- The Duhamel Collection: Artwork
