Highlights: The mother of all tourist traps
Description:     Wall Drug Store survived the Depression by offering free ice water to thirsty travelers on their way to the Black Hills. You can still get free ice water and 5-cent coffee.
The store, now occupying an entire city block, includes numerous gift shops and an interesting "backyard" with a huge collection of old photos and other memobelia. There ae also several attractions within the store including a coin-operated mechanical cowboy band, a 6-foot replica of Mt. Rushmore, and a dinosaur.
The bookstore has a large collection of regional books -- one of the best in the area, actually.  By the way, in addition to being a tourist trap, Wall drug is actually a working store for residents in the Wall area, so the prices aren't as touristy as you might think, especially if you need ranch clothes or cowboy boots ... and, who doesn't?
Wall Drug is near the Badlands National Park (exit 110 on I-90) and the Minuteman Missile Site (Exit 131 on I-90).

Over the years, Wall Drug has gotten much media attention on television, magazines and newspaper articles.  Among them are roadsideamerica.com; an entry in Wikipedia;  an article in Time Magazine and an article from the Chicago Sun Times.
