| Description: |
This is the one-time home of
"Sue," one of the most complete T. rex's ever discovered; which now
resides in the Field Museum in Chicago. Sue was discovered by the
independent fossil hunters of the Black Hills Geological Institute,
Inc. housed in this museum. Sue has since been replaced by "Stan"
another well-preserved T. rex now on display. The museum features
exhibits showing Western geology, fossils and dinosaur hunters'
methods. For more information about "Sue" visit the Field Museum web site. Note: The story of the discovery of "Sue" and the subsequent legal suits and controversies that lead to the placement of "Sue" in the Field Museum was the subject of a 1997 PBS documentary. See transcript. The museum is privately funded and is not affiliated with any unversity, which contributed to the controversy. The museum is located at 217 Main Street, Hill City, SD, 57745.
