The Sturgis Motorcycle Museum and Hall of Fame is a project
of the citizens of Sturgis and the Jackpine Gypsies -- the originators
of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. The museum was started in 2001 with
donations and loans of motorcyles from collectors all over
the world and has grown greatly since. The museum includes examples of motorcycles from every decade since 1910 including modern and custom bikes. It is one of the largest collections anywhere and is considered a "world class" museum. In addition to displays arranged chronologically, there are displays of different types of bikes, such as the motorcycles of Britian and exhibits are changed often. There is also a section devoted to the history of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Sturgis Motorcycle Museum, 999 Main Street, Sturgis, SD, 57785. Telephone: 605-347-2001. http://www.sturgismuseum.com |
