Museums
A donation
will get you into most public museums in Black Hills. Rates for
privately operated museums range from $6 to $10.
Our list of favorite museums includes the Keystone
Historical Museum, the School of Mines Museum of Geology, the Journey
Museum, The Adams Museum
in Deadwood and the A&A Salvage Museum. Except for the Journey
Museum all are free -- although donations are encouraged.

Commercially operated museums
include the Rushmore Borglum Story
in Keystone, The Museum of Woodcarving in Custer, the Black Hills
Mining Museum in Lead among others.
A number of museums appeal to special
interests, including the Fort Meade Calvary Museum in Sturgis, the Air
and Space Museum at Ellsworth Air Force Base near Rapid City and the
Museum of Geology at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in
Rapid City. The Mt. Rushmore Interpretive Center at Mt. Rushmore might
also fall into the categoy.
Two private museums, the Sturgis
Motorcycle Museum and A&A Salvage Museum in Rapid City are of
interest to motorcycle and antique car enthusiasts.
The following links will take you to more information about the various
museums listed. Not all of the listed places are museums in the
strictest sense, however they are historically or otherwise interesting
anyway. Use your browser's "Back" command to return to
this page.
