Scuba Diving

Most people don't naturally think about going to the mountains for a scuba diving experience, but nevertheless there are opportunities here.         The Black hills have 17 lakes and most of  them are actually resevoirs so you might be surprised at what you could see at the bottem. We've been told that if you've got the gear, some of the lakes in5600a03.htm the Black Hills can offer some extrordinary experiences. You'll need to talk to someone at the local dive shop, but weve been told that under the waters of Pactola Lake, for instance, you can still see the remnants of the old town of Pactola that was flooded when the dam was built. Were not sure that's true, but it makes a heck of a good story.         One thing we do know for certain, is that the lakes in the Black Hills generally have extradorinarly clear water -- clear and cold, that is.
