This is a picture of the entrance to what was to have been the "Hall of Records" in a crevice immediately behind Mt. Rushmore. The actual Hall of Records was never completed as envisioned but this 50-foot tunnel remains. This photo was taken in the late 1930s. In 1998 the Mt. Rushmore Historical Society succeeded in having a small cache of records placed in a scaled down version of the hall.
